The Westcott Open Gardens event was run for the second year in 28th June, and proved to be an enormous success, attracting not just village residents, but also visitors from the wider Surrey and Sussex areas.
Our Open Gardens route featured 8 private gardens plus the Community Garden at the Hub, and the nature garden on Westcott Meadow. Around 600 visitors made the walk around the gardens, enjoyed browsing the plant and craft stalls, and enjoyed tea, cake, Pimms and a barbecue at the village hall. We are hugely grateful to everyone who supported the event.
Thank you to everbody who made this such an enjoyable day – the organisers, those who donated generous raffle prizes and cakes, and those working on the stalls, and a special thank you to all the incredible garden hosts. It’s a massive task to open your garden, not least all the preparation to get it looking tip-top, especially tricky in the hot dry summer.
We raised a fantastic £5,300 in total and donated 10% of our takings to F@SH at Surrey Hills All Saints school.
